We are an international health research institute based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Our research is addressing some of the world’s most pressing health challenges.
We aim to ensure that our evidence and experience is widely shared.
Stay up to date with our research and activities.
Our laboratories, field sites and clinical facilities enable us to carry out the full spectrum of biomedical, clinical and public health research.
Our well-equipped and up-to-date laboratory facilities enable us to carry out a wide range of microbiological, molecular genetic and other studies.
We run a range of field sites, including the developing world’s longest running demographic surveillance site at Matlab, a rural area south of Dhaka. These urban and rural field sites support an extensive programme of surveillance and population-based and health systems research.
We provide clinical services at a range of clinical facilities, including Dhaka Hospital, Matlab Hospital and Mirpur Treatment Centre. This clinical infrastructure provides a platform for a large programme of clinical research, particularly in infectious disease.
