The objectives of the training programmes are:
- to increase capacity to conduct research in developing
countries
- to increase capabilities to manage programmes for the
control of diarrhoeal disease and for family planning services
- to improve clinical skill of health personnel through `hands on' training on specific aspects of diarrhoeal diseases, associated complications and nutritional problems
- to improve response to new and emerging issues in health and population.

Dhaka is the capital city of Bangladesh, and is connected by major airlines to South-East Asia, Middle East, Europe, and North America.

Weather
Summer months can be very hot and humid (maximum temperature 38oC, and humidity of 90%); light cotton dresses are recommended. Winter is brief (December-February) with lowest expected temperature of around 8oC requiring woolen garments.
Accommodation
Limited accommodation is available at the Centre's Guest House (US $ 40.00/day) that includes: room and breakfast.
Accommodation, available in local hotels or other guest houses at affordable rates, can be arranged by the Centre.
Course Language
All courses at ICDDR,B are conducted in English. A good command of the English language is, therefore, essential.
Award of Certificate
A Certificate of Attendance is awarded to all participants on satisfactory completion of the course.
