I work on zoonotic diseases that have significant public health importance. I have developed a protocol  “Survey for zoonotic disease transmission risk factors in Bangladesh” that focused on Nipah, Japanese encephalitis, rabies, anthrax and avian influenza to identify spatial and temporal distribution of risk factors throughout Bangladesh. I am also involved as a co-investigator with  “Avian Influenza Surveillance in Bangladesh”, “Identifying potential Japanese encephalitis virus vectors in an endemic region of Bangladesh: an exploratory study of mosquito species occurrence and their relative abundance” and “Temporal association of highly pathogenic avian influenza A/H5N1 outbreaks in commercial and in backyard poultry flocks in Bangladesh”. I have completed a 3 years’ study of “National assessment of backyard poultry rearing practices in Bangladesh” focused on avian influenza in backyard poultry. Two manuscripts will be developed from this study.
