I am interested in research related to viral pathogens for both human and zoonotic importance. Currently I am involved in projects aiming to carry out epidemiological studies of diseases transmitted from wildlife or domestic animals to people, including highly pathogenic avian influenza A/H5N1, Nipah virus, Japanese encephalitis virus, hepatitis E virus, rotavirus. I participated in joint outbreak investigations of avian influenza in humans and poultry with other stake holders like IEDCR and FAO. I am also involved in studies aiming to understand the distribution of Norovirus in Bangladesh, genetic characterization of circulating Nipah virus, genotyping of Hepatitis C virus and viral pathogen discovery as either a PI or as co-investigator.
